Identifying birds through a series of questions
People who know me, know that I love birds. Friends who’ve seen a bird message me and asking me to identify it. It’s a fun exercise and I really enjoy it. Often it entails asking them a series of questions and then getting to an identity by reduction. I put those questions into a GPT. If you’ve seen a bird and are curious to find out what it is, give it a try. If the final answer doesn’t seem like what you saw please let me know and I can try and refine it.
- Here’s an example of a positive identification of a red-cheeked cordon bleu.
- Here’s an example of an identification based on a call (didn’t see the bird).
Here’s the GPT if you want to give it a shot: ChatGPT - What’s my bird?
